After a long wet (or cold) winter indoors everything starts to feel a little stale. As the days gradually get longer, we start to feel like shedding that dank winter skin. Dark & cozy rooms begin to feel oppressive and we crave light and warmth. After all, it starts to feel like the summer is not too far away. Read on for some fresh ideas for your dining room.
Pack Away the Winter Blues
If you’re like me, this is the perfect time to freshen up those rooms that we’ve been nesting in for the last few months. My dining room is on the dark side to begin with. There’s not a lot of natural light and not the best in artificial light either. In one of those moments of wanting warmth, I painted the main wall a fairly dark shade of blue. The rich shade makes the room feel cozy and close.
Fresh Ideas for Your Dining Room Makeover
With spring just around the corner, I’m feeling the need to brighten things up. I probably won’t repaint yet, I still love the colour and the intimate feeling that it creates. But I am looking for ways to brighten up the dark furniture and give the room an overall lighter feel.
Let There Be Bright
A few quick fixes can be simple and inexpensive. Purchases like brighter table linens or a new rug can add a stylish touch. I would also like to amplify the lighting in the room by changing my ceiling fixture and possibly add a table lamp as well. And don’t forget fresh flowers. They always bring a touch of spring to any room.
